This job involves reviewing medical records from behavioral health providers to ensure services for Medicaid patients in Pennsylvania are necessary, compliant with laws, and free from fraud or abuse.
You'll check hospital records, handle incident reports, communicate with providers and legal teams, and sometimes testify in hearings.
It's a great fit for a registered nurse with experience in healthcare who wants to use their judgment to protect public benefits without direct patient care.

As a Medical Records Examiner, you will monitor medical care and services rendered by behavioral health providers under the Medical Assistance (MA) Program. You will determine if compensable services were approved in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Duties will include:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to three days per week.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
