Key Requirements

  • Or, four years of experience in preparing, classifying, and abstracting medical reports with AHIMA registration as a Medical Records Technician
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage subordinate staff
  • Ability to write policies and procedures, conduct audits, and organize data
  • Proficiency in leading performance improvement activities and learning new technologies
  • Ability to pass medical examination and criminal history checks (PA State Police and FBI)

Clarks Summit State Hospital provides hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services to adults, and we have an exciting career opportunity for a self-motivated Medical Records Director to lead our busy, service-oriented Medical Records Department. If you possess the administrative and supervisory skills that are essential for planning and directing the operations of the medical records department, we want to hear from you.

Key functions of this position include meeting operational needs and achieving goals by successfully supervising and leading subordinate staff; quickly self-learning technology and operating requirements; writing effective policies and procedures; designing and conducting audits; effectively labelling, organizing, and analyzing data; and proficiently developing, leading, and monitoring performance improvement activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association; or
  • Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association; or
  • Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
