The Loudoun County Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services is seeking a talented and motivated individual to serve as a Medical Receptionist I in the Operations Support program. Requirements

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for providing outstanding customer service to individual’s accessing behavioral health services primarily at our Sterling Clinic, but you may be asked to support other locations as needed. Ideal candidates will possess exceptional customer service skills, computer and data entry experience, strong written and oral communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have previous professional experience utilizing an Electronic Health Record (EHR) to maintain service delivery records.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Greeting and checking in individuals in a healthcare setting and assisting new individuals interested in enrolling for Departmental services.
  • Answering and directing general inquiries from individuals, both in-person and over the telephone, scheduling appointments, collecting payments, and verifying billing and insurance information.
  • Provides courteous and timely customer service to County staff, vendors, visitors, and the public; provides information; responds to questions and refers individuals to appropriate staff.
  • Manages medical provider schedules; sets-up hours of availability; notifies individuals of appointment cancellations due to staff illness, inclement weather, and other emergencies; and facilitates rescheduling activities.
  • Accurately enters information into the Electronic Health Record system.
    Position Hours: Mon – Fri: 8:30am – 5pm with a required closing shift at least once per month until 8 pm. This position may be required to work more than one closing shift per month depending on staffing and program needs.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; two (2) years of related work experience in a clerical position involving contact with the public and working with automated systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with standard office equipment, including desktop scanners, and proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Bilingual skills, with the ability to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish.

Additional Information

  • Must be available to work 7.5-to-10-hour shifts between the hours of 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid/AED and OSHA certifications.
  • Must successfully complete mandatory training, including HIPAA, Human Rights and Therapeutic Options.
Post Conditional Offer Contingencies:
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing pre-employment background check to include fingerprinting, credit, NCIC, DMV and TB test.
  • Must have a good driving record and a valid driver's license in Virginia or regional state of residence.
