Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a senior mechanical engineer at a naval shipyard in Pennsylvania, where you'll lead facility improvement projects, manage budgets and contracts, and provide expert advice to support manufacturing operations.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the FACILITY ENGINEERING BRANCH (1460.2) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing senior technical member/advisor duties to the branch head, division head, and Naval Foundry and Propeller Center manufacturing shops or similar.

Experience leading and managing major facility improvement projects including contracts, budgeting, and ensuring compliance with relevant building, health, and safety codes.

Experience coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are initiated, planned, and executed in a manner which best supports Naval Foundry and Propeller Center production operations or similar.

Experience reviewing technical documents, providing advice and innovative ideas based on engineering principles to colleagues, management, and leadership on mission critical priorities.

Experience providing directions and recommendations on facility sustainment projects from inception through completion to support production operations.

Experience providing engineering direction and guidance on the maintenance and sustainment of Naval Foundry and Propeller Center facility infrastructure or similar.

  • You will direct, control, monitor, interpret and seek resolution on all matters pertaining to the effective conduct of production and engineering practices in the assigned area of responsibility (AOR).
  • You will be responsible for training, mentoring, and ensuring lower grade personnel meet their organization goals and objectives.
  • You will be responsible for all engineering aspects for a specific technical discipline of an emerging technological process.
  • You will be responsible for management of projects, including contracts and budgeting.
