You will serve as a MECHANICAL ENGINEER in the Engineering and Planning Department, C/400 of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. This is a RE-ADVERTISEMENT of Announcement Number: ST-12904426-26-KL.

Salary for the GS-11: $83,935 - $109,122 Salary for the GS-12: $100,602 - $130,786 FOR GS-12: In addition to meeting the basic education requirements, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer: applying procedures to identify and analyze mechanical systems to modify technical design deficiencies; developing and executing corrective measures to improve system capabilities; and coordinating implementation of resolution in support of ship or submarine maintenance, alteration, overhaul or repair.

FOR GS-11: In addition to meeting the basic education requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-9) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer: utilizing methodologies to help identify and analyze mechanical systems to modify technical design deficiencies; assist with developing and executing corrective measures to improve system capabilities; and providing resolutions to support ship or submarine maintenance, overhaul or repair projects.

• You will develop and review proposed design modifications to existing TRIDENT submarines systems and equipment to alleviate potential problems by influencing the hardware design.
• You will exercise a high degree of initiative, judgment, and resourcefulness in the organization, management, and coordination of activities concerned with scheduling and performing nuclear submarine (SSBN) refits and industrial repairs.
• You will review proposed design modifications to existing TRIDENT submarine systems and equipment, especially TRIPER equipment, with a view toward alleviating potential problems by influencing the hardware design.
• You will provide and manage the identification, evaluation, and resolution of RIF TRIDENT submarine equipment technical problems.
• You will establish and maintain written communications using tact, and persuasiveness in close personal contacts on a daily basis with all levels of personnel from this and other activities.
