This job involves repairing and maintaining heavy off-road construction equipment used in road building, supervising on-site repairs, and training junior mechanics in a county facilities department.
It requires hands-on work in the field, diagnosing issues, and ensuring equipment safety and functionality.

High school diploma or GED. An additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for a high school diploma.
Four (4) years of heavy truck/off-road or diesel mechanic experience required.
Certification of graduation from an accredited Mechanic Trade School may substitute for one year of experience.
A current and valid Class C driver license is required upon hire.
A Class A CDL with a combination tanker and hazmat endorsement is required within eight (8) months of hire.
May require certification in a specific trade or training such as A/C or ASE coursework.
Controlled Area Network (CAN) experience preferred.
Additional technician certifications and licenses preferred.
Diagnosing and repairing highly complex off-road construction equipment with specialty certifications and licenses preferred.
Ability to train employees.
Thorough knowledge of road construction equipment and specialized requirements. Ability to organize, plan, and make decisions.
