This job involves fixing complex heavy construction equipment like off-road track machines used in road building, supervising repairs on-site, and training junior mechanics.
It requires making quick decisions in the field and ensuring everything runs safely and efficiently.
A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in diesel and hydraulic repairs who enjoys working outdoors and leading a team.
High school diploma or GED. An additional four (4) years of related experience may substitute for a high school diploma.
Four (4) years of heavy truck/off-road or diesel mechanic experience required.
Certification of graduation from an accredited Mechanic Trade School may substitute for one year of experience.
A current and valid Class C driver license is required upon hire. A Class A CDL with a combination tanker and hazmat endorsement is required within eight (8) months of hire.
May require certification in a specific trade or training such as A/C or ASE coursework.
Controlled Area Network (CAN) experience preferred.
Additional technician certifications and licenses preferred.
Diagnosing and repairing highly complex off-road construction equipment with specialty certifications and licenses preferred.
Ability to train employees.
Thorough knowledge of road construction equipment and specialized requirements.
Ability to organize, plan, and make decisions.

Tarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include financial reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment.
