Job Description

Summary

This job involves cutting and preparing beef, pork, veal, and lamb into retail and ready-to-eat portions for sale in a military commissary, while also advising customers on how to store, thaw, and cook the meat safely.

It requires hands-on work with tools and equipment in a fast-paced environment, including maintaining cleanliness to meet health standards.

The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of meatcutting tasks associated with processing beef, pork, veal and lamb into retail and ready-to-eat cuts for sale to patrons.

Examples of qualifying experience: Prepare ready-to-eat cuts and special orders such as crown roasts. Use hand tools and operating powered meat cutting equipment.

Clean and sanitize meatcutting tools, equipment and work areas to maintain required standards.

You will receive credit for all relevant qualifying experience (paid and unpaid), including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Physical requirements: (1) Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and climb for prolonged periods.

(2) Lift, push, pull, carry, and handle items weighing up to 50 pounds independently and occasionally over 100 pounds with assistance.

You will attest to your ability to perform these physical requirements in the Questionnaire.
