The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform the work of a Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience, working under close supervision receiving, issuing, handling, segregating, storing, stowing, inventorying, selecting and preparing for shipment, and documenting the movement and storage of supplies, equipment, or materials in accordance with prescribed regulations; performing inspections of incoming shipments to check for damage and correct quantities; documenting discrepancies and damage; reading shipping documents; using computer applications to document/maintain required data; complying with proper handling and storage procedures; operating material handling equipment (MHE) such as pallet jacks and dollies (hand trucks) Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: Federal Wage System Qualifications (opm.gov) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will verify shipments by checking shipping documents.
  • You will perform kind-count-condition inspections on incoming materials.
  • You will unload incoming shipments, scan bar codes or keys receipt information into automated record systems.
  • You will build pallet-load to facilitate storage and/or delivery to customer.
  • You will unload incoming shipments using common hand tools and material handling equipment up to 10,000 pounds capacity.
