Full Job Description

The incumbent operates a fork lift to transport compressed bales of cardboard, magazines, newspapers, books and other materials compressed by a baling machine.

The incumbent also receives and unloads incoming vendor shipments and assists with disposal of waste materials. This position requires a valid D.C.

or State driver's license and a Certificate as a Powered Industrial Truck Operator to operate the Forklift in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.178 (l) (6).

You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position: The ability to independently operate a fork lift to transport materials and receive and unload incoming vendor shipments without more than normal supervision.

The tour of duty for this position is Monday – Sunday 9:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

This position is emergency essential - Depending on the type of emergency the employee may be required to report to work during emergency situations.

Duties include, but are not limited to: Receive and unload delivery trucks and other designated conveyances.

Open containers and check materials received against invoice report or receipt document, comparing sholt titles, stock numbers, register numbers and quantity.

Assemble material for disbursement from selected bulk storage areas.

Check for and ensure the correctness of register numbers, stock numbers, quantity, sholt titles and classification of each item ordered for shipment.

Receive materials and supplies, personally store and monitor the receipt of supplies and materials purchased and stored for trades and crafts shops.

Coordinate the movement of incoming and outgoing supplies and placement of materials within the docking and storage areas.

Operate industrial vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and other cleaning tools and equipment to vacuum rugs, clean floors, baseboards and perform other routine cleaning tasks.

Load, transport, unload and assemble tools, parts and materials. Sort and dispose of recyclable materials and separate hazardous materials for disposal.

Inspect fork Lift equipment before operating to confirm that it is in safe operating condition.

Operate a fork lift to transport compressed bales of cardboard, magazines, newspapers, books, bottles, cans and other recyclable materials compressed by the baling machine.

Unload and uncrate delivered construction related items, such as electrical, lumber and other building material, masonry materials, plumbing supplies, etc.

Perform data entry to update inventory records and maintain an accurate inventory of on-hand and issued stock.

Operate a fork Lift with a load capacity of more than 10,000 pounds and a height capacity of 168 inches or more.

Coordinate the movement of incoming and outgoing supplies and placement of materials within the docking and storage areas. Performs other related duties as assigned.
