This job involves leading a small team of workers in a warehouse or supply setting for the Air Force, where you'll both do hands-on tasks like finding and delivering parts and tools for equipment repairs, and make sure your team completes their work properly.

The primary purpose of this position, MATERIALS EXPEDITER LEADER, WL-6910-07, is to lead 3 or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis.
Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensure that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing and Stock Handling Family.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order) Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.
(other than blueprints) Knowledge of Materials Dexterity and Safety PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly handles items weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted.
Occasionally handles over 25 pounds with mechanical or human assistance. Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and kneeling is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Regularly exposed to possible injury associated with handling parts and materials. Work is usually performed indoors in a well-lighted and ventilated production shop area.
May be exposed for short periods to outdoor conditions. Regularly exposed to shop noises, dirt, fumes, and vibrations. Major Duties:
Lead a team of trades and/or labor workers. Perform nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led.
Perform a variety of duties in expediting, coordinating, and supplying parts, tools, material and supplies for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and/or repair of production type machinery and equipment as well as mobile and engineering equipment.
Locate parts and materials not available through normal requisitioning channels, transport critical items from sources of supply to destination, follow up on priority items on order, and take action to expedite delivery.
