Full Job Description

You will serve as a MATERIALS EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER in the PROJECT SUPPORT DIVISION - CODE 530 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

  • You will identify, sort and judge the physical condition of a variety of hazardous, non-hazardous materials and equipment.
  • You will ensure that hazardous materials/waste within work area are handled and processed within operating guidelines and that containers
  • You will perform complex searches of shipping and storage records, equipment specifications, and manufacturer manuals as required for item/equipment identification.
  • You will conduct visual inspections of materials and equipment for leakage, corrosion, broken packaging, broken seals and discoloration.
  • You will compare contracts, complex or subjective specifications, such as tech orders, catalog drawings, and computerized data to verify agreement with the specified quantities and the physical and mechanical condition.
  • You will operate motor vehicles for hauling material, equipment and/or personnel; and forklifts for lifting, leering, and tilting loads; in congested areas both indoors and outdoors.
