Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a small team of workers in examining, identifying, and handling materials in a warehouse setting for the Air Force, while also performing the hands-on tasks yourself.

The primary purpose of this position is to To lead three or more workers to accomplish trades and/or labor work on a substantially full time and continuing basis.

Leader is responsible to both perform the work assigned by a supervisor and ensures that subordinates completed assigned work consistent with trades and labor standards.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900, Warehousing and Stock Handling Group.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to lead and supervise.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Working knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) 2. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. 3.

Knowledge of the use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and equipment common to trades and labor work performed by the group being led. 4.

Skill in performing the trade and /or labor work of the group being led. 5. Ability to lead a team of three or more labor or trade employees.

Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Physical Effort The work requires moderate to heavy lifting when moving material by hand or handtruck. They walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.

The work requires bending, stooping, and pushing and pulling heavy material along conveyor lines.

The Materials Handling work may require working on hard surfaces and lifting and carrying weights up to 40 pounds.

May handle heavier items with weightlifting equipment or with assistance from other workers.

Working Conditions Work is performed inside in a warehouse environment and outside in containment areas on a year-round basis.

Examiners may be subject to cuts, brnises, abrasions, and scrapes in moving or handling materials and equipment PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major Duties:

Leads a team of trades and/or labor workers. Performs work. Performs work direction responsibilities. Performs administration responsibilities.

Leads supply inspectors by ensuring an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items is accomplished.

Ensures education in, compliance with, and practice of security directives, good safety, and health habits in all work areas.
