Job Description

Summary

This job involves inspecting and overseeing repairs on ships and boats at a naval facility in Singapore, ensuring that contractors follow all rules and standards for quality work.

You'll provide expert advice on technical issues, monitor progress on-site, and create detailed plans for repairs across mechanical, electrical, and structural areas.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a MARINE SURVEYOR in the Waterfront Operation Department of SRF DETACHMENT SINGAPORE.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing industrial, engineering, technical and maintenance/repair of ships and craft that operate throughout the facility including providing oversight and Quality Assurance of contracted repairs.

  • You will provide on-site technical assistance and technical recommendations for the accomplishment of ship repairs.
  • You will conduct in-process surveillance of work in progress to ensure adherence to specification requirements, orders, directives and sound marine practices.
  • You will interpret specifications and work requirements to ensure contractor understands work to be accomplished, parts required, testing requirements and coordination required.
  • You will conduct a pre-arrival conference with foreign civilian contractors and ship's company.
  • You will develop detailed work specifications including all trades, mechanical, electrical and structural for work to be performed by foreign, military and private shipyards in accordance with the latest directives, instructions, and requirements.
