The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Executive Support Specialist for the Department of Engineering Physics. *This announcement has a USAHIRE assessment test requirement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems.

Examples of specialized experience includes Applying analysis, evaluation, fact-finding, and investigative techniques in order to gather data, identify significant factors, and recommend a solution from a number of possible alternatives.

Conducting studies and preparing reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate factual and procedural information clearly.

Communicating clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing.

OR EDUCATION: Possess PhD or equivalent doctoral degree OR successfully completed three full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a PhD, or equivalent doctoral degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Possess less than the full amount of specialized experience described in job opportunity announcement; however, I have completed some graduated-level education as described above that when combined equals 100% of the qualifications requirements.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of and experience applying general business management skills, principles, rules, and procedures (such as economic and statistical analysis, business law, accounting, and administrative management techniques) as evidenced by an earned Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration (or closely related discipline) or significant relevant work experience.

Skill in gathering and analyzing issues/facts, making judgments, and presenting recommendations.

Knowledge of and experience in graduate school education administration and national engineering degree accreditation process. Ability to work independently and to make independent decisions.

Ability to anticipate requirements, plan and organize work in response to the requirements, and determine required schedule for work's completion.

High level skill in effective oral and written communication. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Prepares detailed plans, projections, analyses, work measurement, and administrative recommendations regarding critical, complex administrative processes and actions.

Serves as the primary academic program manager for the Department of Engineering Physics: Provides specialized analysis, assessment, and programmatic oversight to ensure the quality of the academic programs within the Department.

Performs Other Duties and Accomplishes Special Projects for the Department Head.
