Summary

This job involves analyzing data and programs to help improve how the U.S.

Customs and Border Protection office in Tucson runs its operations, such as preparing reports and coordinating with teams on projects.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Tucson Field Office, Mission Support Division, located in Tucson, Arizona.

Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Analyzing data from multiple sources to conduct studies or evaluations of administrative programs and provide recommendations to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, or productivity of organizational operations.

Preparing briefings, reports, decision papers, or presentation materials that summarize analyses, alternatives, and recommendations for supervisors or managers.

Coordinating with internal stakeholders to gather data, clarify requirements, follow up on taskings, and track the status of action items related to assigned projects or studies.

Assisting policy makers and senior staff by developing, evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting program or policy options to help resolve complex issues of organizational or department wide significance.

Representing the organization at high level meetings or working groups to present analytical results, negotiate solutions, and build consensus around recommended changes.

Background Investigation: U.S.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

To be considered well qualified under CTAP, you must be rated at a minimum score of 85 for this position. Major Duties:

Joining the Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations will allow you to use your expertise in assessing the productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency of human capital efforts resolving complex problems related to position management, staffing and placement, performance management, awards, and worker's compensation.

This position starts at a salary of $108,455.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $140,994.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

In this position, you will strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by becoming a valuable member of a team of administrative professionals.

Typical work assignments include: Directing, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing a major segment of an agency-wide mission or administrative program.

Planning and conducting special studies, personally or through team members, providing advice to managers, and developing and evaluating policies in assigned program areas.

Providing technical assistance and direct support to management staff in all matters relating to the application of planning systems and management programs to meet mission requirements.

Coordinating activities to office support staff, advising and providing analytical support on problem definition, planning methodologies, policies, and procedures.
