Full Job Description

This position is located in the Space Portfolio Division (SPD), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Washington Headquarters Services (WHS).

The selectee provides a high level of administrative management support and guidance to the SPD Director, Deputy Director, and Staff, including the Branch Chiefs in those areas of responsibility which require administrative and management and various other programs and initiatives that are integral to the success of the mission of FSD, WHS and DoW.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

You may qualify at the GS-12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) which demonstrates the following: Conducting management studies and surveys to include designing, planning and facilitating study methods, preparing plans of action, and providing administrative support during studies; Ensuring program management plans, reports and reviews are developed, coordinated, and distributed in a timely manner and to a high quality standard; Recommending and/or establishing procedures, preparing instruction and directives, and meeting program objectives; Providing oral and written input to include status reports, presentations, information papers, and financial analysis; AND conducting program reviews and processes, and making recommendations on organization positions.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Typical work assignments may include the following: Conducts management studies and surveys with broad in scope and inter-divisional impact, and makes recommendations to change the scope of studies to address uncovered issues of significant organizational impact.

Develops necessary procedures and guidelines to ensure operational inter-divisional consistency and adherence to established policies, rules and regulations.

Participates in the development, revision, and administration of management action programs to control and promote the management-improvement efforts.

Proposes solutions to improve processes to maximize accomplishment of objectives, enhance resource utilization, improve methods, techniques, and procedures to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations and control costs.

Provides advice, guidance and information support to program managers and technical subject matter experts to support development of alternate program strategies, program planning and modifications.
