Job Description

Summary

This job is for a maintenance worker at a U.S.

Army base in Missouri, where you'll handle everyday repairs and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment, including carpentry, painting, basic plumbing and electrical fixes, and driving vehicles to transport items.

It's ideal for someone with hands-on experience in manual trades who works well independently or in a team and enjoys physical, practical tasks.

No advanced degrees are needed, just proven skills in using tools and following simple plans.

This position is located at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job Must have a working knowledge of wood working techniques and basic shop mathematics.

Must be skilled in use and operation of common hand and power tools and measuring devices of the carpentry and painting trades to perform a variety of tasks.

Must have a knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques. Must have ability to read and follow basic blueprints and sketches.

Must have skill in manipulating controls of a motor vehicle. **Your resume should be clear and specific. You will be rated based solely off of the information provided within your resume.

Assumptions will not be made regarding your experience and the duties performed ** Major Duties:

  • Works alone or in a group performing a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of grounds, structures, and fixtures. Use of trade practices associated with carpentry and painting as well as work involving motor vehicle operations.
  • Vehicle Operation: May be required to drive vehicles up to and including a 5-ton truck to move furniture, etc., to various buildings on the installation. Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Carpentry: Measures, cuts, constructs and/or repairs wood, composite building materials. Uses such tools as hammers, chisels, handsaws, planes, screwdrivers, power saws/sanders/drills to build partitions, chair rails, baseboards and shelving.
  • Electrical/Plumbing: As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Replaces ceiling light and/or burned out bulbs. Repairs faucets, resets toilets, and lavatories. Performs other easily accomplished repairs.
  • Laborer: Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials; opens crates and boxes using crowbar, cuts bands using shears; Moves and arranges furniture. Shovels snow.
