Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining parks by cleaning facilities, mowing lawns, removing trash, setting up for events, and helping with snow removal, while sometimes leading a team when the supervisor is away.

It's based at Creve Coeur Park in St. Louis but could fill spots elsewhere in the county parks.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in groundskeeping or building maintenance who enjoys outdoor work and can handle physical tasks reliably.

Full Job Description

These positions will work at an assigned park location. Currently, there is a vacancy in the West Area at Creve Coeur Park but the list being created from this posting may be used to fill vacancies throughout the County parks system.

The typical starting salary range is between $16.39 - $19.67 hourly depending upon the candidates qualifications as well as budgetary considerations.

Requirements

Serves as a lead person of the crew in absence of the park supervisor.

Cleans and performs maintenance of restrooms, shelters, picnic sites, athletic fields, trails, amphitheater, and other facilities.

Mows and trims grounds.

Performs trash removal and pick-up.

Sets-up equipment and materials for programs and events.

Breaks-down and cleans up after programs and events.

Assists with snow and ice removal.

Performs various construction related activities.

Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Two years building and grounds maintenance experience preferably including experience in a lead or supervisory capacity; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must possess a valid driver's license.

SELECTION AND APPOINTMENT:??A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available.

The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.?Responses provided to the interview questions listed under the Supplemental Question heading of this posting will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade.?

A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment.?

Once questions are scored, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire.?

Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.?

?The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.?

Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory.? The cost of screening will be covered?by the County.
