This job involves doing hands-on maintenance work like fixing roads, drainage systems, pipelines, and other county facilities, often outdoors and involving physical labor.
It's an entry-level role where you'll learn on the job under supervision, helping keep public infrastructure in good shape.
A good fit would be someone who's reliable, physically fit, eager to learn manual tasks, and comfortable working in a team with the public.

Common hand toolsAbility toLearn to perform a variety of manual tasks related to assigned dutiesFollow oral and written instructionsMaintain courteous and effective relationships with co-workers and the publicRead, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance Qualifications Minimum QualificationsThere are no education or experience requirements for this class.Special RequirementsPhysical Requirements: In some positions incumbents will be required to perform heavy manual labor which may include such tasks as digging ditches; lifting and carrying of materials including, but not limited to cement bags, sewer pipe, and sign posts; frequent walking and/or standing, carrying or throwing shovelfuls of paving material; working outdoors in all types of local weather conditions.License Required: A valid California Driver's License, Class C or higher, is required prior to appointment to this class.
Failure to maintain a valid License may constitute cause for termination from this class in accordance with Civil Service Rule 11.4.
Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.Minimum Age: 18 years.Special Access: Some positions require the ability to maintain an Airport Security Badge allowing access to secure County Airport locations.Background Check: Some positions in this class must pass an employment history/access investigation and possibly a criminal history record check in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration Regulations and Sacramento County Policies and Procedures.
Fingerprinting will be required.Probationary Period The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.
