Requirements
Loudoun County's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is in search of qualified individuals for the full-time position of Maintenance Technician II, primarily responsible for performing maintenance tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments for the County. This role involves executing preventive maintenance, managing and repairing equipment, tools, and vehicles, and undertaking groundskeeping and specialized turf care. Additionally, it includes preparing fields for athletic events, addressing weather-related incidents and facility emergencies, and carrying out snow removal operations. While this position does not entail direct supervisory duties, it may encompass the oversight of the work activities of junior staff, volunteers, seasonal technicians, and community service workers.

• Hal & Berni Hanson Regional Park, Aldie, VA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Conducts outdoor maintenance and is responsible for the operation and upkeep of machinery, equipment, vehicles, and tools.
• May play a key role as essential personnel in responding to emergencies in the county.
• Carries out safety inspections at the site, adhering to the protocols specified in the preventive maintenance plan, while also examining the Safety Data Sheet records.
• Conducts snow removal operations in designated locations according to the County's snow management plan.
• May operate heavy equipment and vehicles such as trucks with trailers, and transport heavy equipment to, on, and from the site.
• Install tents, tables, chairs, supplies, equipment, and parking for special events and tournaments.
• Aids in developing maintenance schedules for equipment and fields; ensures work orders are completed on time for customers.
• Other key responsibilities related to the position and departmental assignment may also be performed as necessary.
*Candidates should be prepared to work on weekdays, evenings, and weekends as required, and to report for duty as assigned or when recalled. There may be instances where it is necessary to extend work hours beyond the regular schedule, including responding to calls and recalls, as well as modifying schedules to accommodate special events. The ability to lift sixty (60) pounds is essential
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, preferably with coursework in semi-skilled carpentry, basic trades, or landscaping based on assigned area; two (2) years of related work experience in grounds maintenance and/or basic general maintenance, preferably inclusive of some level of performance in a work leader capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• This position is CDL preferred; the candidate is not required to hold or obtain this certification. CDL (commercial driver's license) class A.
• Commercial Pesticide or Registered Technician Commercial Fertilizer license preferred.
Additional Information
Must undergo criminal, credit, and DMV background checks. Valid driver's license and good driving record (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). First Aid/CPR certifications within 30 days of hire; OSHA certifications such as forklift, bucket truck, and lift truck are required within department timeframes. County e-learning as required.
