Requirements

The organization is presently seeking qualified individuals capable of meeting the demands of this role, which mainly entails performing fundamental maintenance, landscaping, and operational support tasks. This role entails significant responsibilities related to the maintenance of athletic fields, which include trimming, cutting, raking, mulching, watering, and weeding the grounds. Moreover, there may be a requirement for specialized turf care and the arrangement of fields for athletic events. This position entails performing essential maintenance and repair duties on vehicles and equipment, along with applying basic skills from the building trades for preventive maintenance and repairs. Although this role does not involve direct supervisory functions, it may include the responsibility of monitoring the work efforts of volunteers, seasonal personnel, and community service workers.


We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
• Hal & Beni Hanson Regional Park, Aldie, VA


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Executes primary maintenance, repairs, and work orders.
• Respond to county emergencies as essential personnel.
• Provides preventive maintenance by identifying and resolving problems.
• Operates heavy equipment and vehicles, including trucks with trailers; transports heavy equipment.
• After inspecting County facilities and vehicles, complete the report, submit the work request, and inform the customer of the findings and the expected resolution.
• Carries out exterior maintenance.
• Ensures that required vehicle records are maintained.
• Assists in the removal of snow in assigned areas as specified by the County snow plan.
• In addition to performing essential job functions, the position and department may require additional tasks.

Hiring salary will be commensurate with experience.


Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; one (1) year of related work experience in basic grounds and/or building maintenance, depending on assigned area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred:
• This position is CDL preferred, candidate is not required to hold or obtain this certification.

Additional Information

Must undergo pre-employment criminal and DMV background checks. A valid driver's license and a clean driving record (driving records may be assessed yearly for ongoing eligibility).

Work Environment:
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will include weekday, evening, and weekend hours. Must be able to work on an as-needed or recall basis or report as needed as assigned. May be required to report to other areas of the county or other starting locations based on department needs. May be required to work beyond the scheduled workday or on weekends and may be subject to recall. Must be able to lift sixty (60) pounds.
