What you will be doing:
This is not typical construction electrical work.
As an Maintenance Specialist Traffic Control & Electronic Systems Journey 2/Lead, you’ll maintain the systems that control traffic flow and illuminate highways, directly supporting public safety.
You’ll work with a small, close-knit crew on highly specialized electrical systems few electricians in Alaska ever experience—while enjoying a steady schedule, strong benefits, and long-term stability.

Employer-supported CDL training may be available for qualified candidates who do not already possess a Class B CDL with air brakes.

This position is located in FAIRBANKS.
Work is performed both in a maintenance shop and in the field along highways, intersections, and other facilities using bucket trucks and specialized equipment. The position requires outdoor work year-round, often in live traffic and at heights, with travel throughout the region.

COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE REQUIRED
This position requires the incumbent to possess a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations (49 CFR 383), to register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to performing safety-sensitive duties, and to provide consent to the Employer to review driver information in accordance with 49 CFR 382.

A Class B Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake endorsement, is required at time of hire.
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC FACILITIES DRUG AND ALCOHOL POLICY
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and CANNOT start work in a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) position until Management Services or designee has received confirmation of the proposed appointee passing the required Pre-Employment drug test.
According to federal regulations, all violations and refusals will be maintained with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse database.
ELECTRICIANS LICENSE REQUIRED
All applicants are required to have an Electricians license with the State of Alaska in order to be hired into the above position. A conditional hire approval can be given for those applicants who are licensed in a state who has entered into a reciprocal agreement with the State of Alaska.
An applicant qualifying under this option may receive a job offer conditional upon successfully obtaining an Electricians license with the State of Alaska within 90 days, and may begin work only AFTER obtaining and showing proof of the license.
