This job involves leading a team of up to 16 workers in maintaining and repairing facilities on an Army base in Alaska, overseeing projects in various trades like electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

About the Position: Serves as supervisor over the Projects and Repair Section exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations involving up to 16 authorized subordinate workers in all crafts/trades and one assistant foreman at the full foreman range of responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor without more than normal supervision.
Planning multi-trade work operations involving electrical, electronics, carpentry, masonry, plumbing and painting; estimating time, materials and equipment required to complete maintenance and repair projects; organizing work assignments where judgment as to individual abilities are involved; evaluating work and providing guidance through interpreting oral and written instructions for facility maintenance and repair; AND performing quality control checks on subordinate workers, identifying problem areas and making recommendations for improvements.
I train co-workers in performing all trades work associated with maintenance duties. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.

(includes blueprint reading) Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Efforts: Work requires walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, working in cramped positions and lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Work requires driving and manipulation of equipment gears, brakes, levers, etc., in performing test runs, operation, and movement of equipment.
Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Incumbent will be exposed to heat, cold, dirt, dust, oil, grease and noise conditions.
Incumbent is subject to bruises, scratches, cuts, and burns. Must exercise care in avoiding danger from moving vehicles and electrical devices.
Hearing protective and other safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to hazardous conditions.
Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the position and does not meet criteria for compensation by environmental or hazardous pay.
Outside work exposes incumbent to extreme arctic weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 50 below zero. Will be required to wear special or other designated safety gear in performance of work.
