This job involves leading a small team of workers to maintain and repair plumbing, piping, and industrial equipment at an Army facility in New York.
You'll handle hands-on tasks like installing systems, reading blueprints, and ensuring tools are ready, while working in tough conditions both indoors and outdoors.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serve as working leader of 3 or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic Leader ~ without more than normal supervision.
which includes: (1) Leading and/or instructing others in the performance of maintenance mechanic functions/duties; (2) Maintaining of piping systems and equipment used in utility systems; (3) Maintaining and repairing industrial equipment; and (4) Demonstrating proper work methods in pipefitting and industrial equipment repair.
- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: The employee works from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and in hard-to-reach places and is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
The employee frequently lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 44 pounds unassisted and over 44 pounds with assistance.
Working Conditions: work is performed inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, smoky and greasy.
The employee is sometimes required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather, on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 feet or more; and in close quarters.
Is exposed to bad smelling fumes, and floor and deck surfaces are sometimes uneven, oily, and slippery.
The employee is frequently exposed to noise, the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections and uncomfortable heat conditions; and occasionally exposed to the possibility of broken bones, injury from falling, electrical shock, or respiratory ailments.
Employee is often required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and hard hats, flash shield and other. Major Duties:
