Full Job Description

This position is located in Architect of the Capitol; Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Superintendent Senate Office Buildings, Maintenance Branch, General Maintenance Evening/Night Section.

As a Maintenance Mechanic Assistant Supervisor, you will serve as Assistant Chief of the Section. The Section performs air conditioning, electrical and plumbing work on an assigned shift.

You must meet all eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. You must meet the following SCREEN-OUT(S) required for this position.

Supervising trade maintenance positions Preform air conditioning, electrical, plumbing and maintenance mechanic work. Major Duties:

Tour of duty for this position is: Tuesday - Saturday 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. This is an Essential-Employee Position.

The employee will be required to report to work during emergencies AND inclement weather situations. Work schedule may require some occasionally mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends.

The individual selected for this position will: Serves as a working supervisor. Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates.

Provides for employee skills enrichment through job related coaching, mentoring and training. Assigns duties and evaluates employees' performance.

Routinely checks on employee's progress on tasks and projects. Resolves complaints and grievances as delegated by higher level supervisors.

Supervises lower-level employees performing work at the WG-05 thru WG-11 level.

In the absence of the supervisor, prepares material list from drawings, blueprints or site inspections for proposed or anticipated construction projects and alterations.

Performs journey-level work in repair of air conditioning systems, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance tasks.

Responsible for utilizing knowledge of and compliance with all OSHA safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas.

Ability to read and interpret information from blueprints, drawings, schematics and operators manuals.

Maintains computerized work orders, logbooks, material inventories, cost estimates, material take offs, inventory sheets, blueprints, drawings. Create and update spreadsheets.

Requisitions supplies, materials, and tools. Ensures that all direct reports know how to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE. Conducts daily safety briefs and maintains all safety and training records.

Be an active member of the JOSH committee and following its guidelines. Performs other duties as assigned.
