MAINTENANCE HIGHWAY TECHNICIAN-WV PARKWAYS AUTHORITY-KANAWHA CO.

Standard maintenance at 6951 Paint Creek Road Standard, WV 25803

Starting Salary: $16.62/hr.
- Guide and direct employees at apprentice level.
- Performs unskilled to semi-skilled work in the construction and maintenance of highways, bridges and structures.
- Performs pothole patching tasks such as jack hammering, removing old concrete or asphalt, shoveling, raking, and compacting asphalt, and site clean-up.
- Performs snowplowing and salting.
- Performs any required task assigned by crewleader/foreman/supervisor on asphalt, bridge, general purpose and other crews.
- Uses sectional highway maintenance equipment to repair, replace concrete and road surfaces, cleans culverts and repairs shoulders.
- Flags traffic at construction sites.
- Picks up trash, debris and empty trash barrels.
- Dig holes, trenches and cleans culverts.
- Operate highway equipment for maintenance work.
- Load and unload trucks.
- Cut grass.
- Loads and unloads equipment.
- Checks equipment to determine operational readiness.
- Seals joints and cracks in highways.
- Uses a variety of manual and power tools such as shovel, back-fill tamper & hand roller in the maintenance and repair of highway.
- May be required to operate other related highway maintenance equipment as training permits.
- Other duties as assigned.
