MAINTENANCE HIGHWAY TECHNICIAN-WV PARKWAYS AUTHORITY-KANAWHA CO.

6951 Paint Creek Road Standard, WV 25803
Starting Salary: $16.62/hr.

  1. Guide and direct employees at apprentice level.
  2. Performs unskilled to semi-skilled work in the construction and maintenance of highways, bridges and structures.
  3. Performs pothole patching tasks such as jack hammering, removing old concrete or asphalt, shoveling, raking, and compacting asphalt, and site clean-up.
  4. Performs snowplowing and salting.
  5. Performs any required task assigned by crewleader/foreman/supervisor on asphalt, bridge, general purpose and other crews.
  6. Uses sectional highway maintenance equipment to repair, replace concrete and road surfaces, cleans culverts and repairs shoulders.
  7. Flags traffic at construction sites.
  8. Picks up trash, debris and empty trash barrels.
  9. Dig holes, trenches and cleans culverts.
  10. Operate highway equipment for maintenance work.
  11. Load and unload trucks.
  12. Cut grass.
  13. Loads and unloads equipment.
  14. Checks equipment to determine operational readiness.
  15. Seals joints and cracks in highways.
  16. Uses a variety of manual and power tools such as shovel, back-fill tamper & hand roller in the maintenance and repair of highway.
  17. May be required to operate other related highway maintenance equipment as training permits.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

HS/ GED
Some highway maintenance experience desired.
