This job involves working as a skilled machinist to build, repair, and maintain aircraft parts using advanced machines and tools, often independently in a naval facility in Okinawa, Japan.
It requires hands-on experience with metals and equipment to handle complex tasks under general supervision.
A good fit would be someone with strong technical skills in machining, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a remote overseas location with limited medical access.

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a MACHINIST (ARICRAFT) in the Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) Production Department of FRC WESTPAC DET OKINAWA.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

- Manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding aircraft parts and items of equipment from various metals and materials through initial planning, layout, complex set up of work, and operation of Computer Numeric Control (CNC)/conventional machines, complex machine tools and their various attachments, and precision handwork as an expert with a high degree of independence.
- Operating one or more CNC/conventional machines and use of various standard machine attachments for manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding aircraft parts and equipment on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.
