Job Description

Summary

Please see Additional Information section below.*** You will serve as a MACHINIST (ARICRAFT) in the Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul (MRO) Production Department of FRC WESTPAC DET OKINAWA.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.

- Manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding aircraft parts and items of equipment from various metals and materials through initial planning, layout, complex set up of work, and operation of Computer Numeric Control (CNC)/conventional machines, complex machine tools and their various attachments, and precision handwork as an expert with a high degree of independence.

- Operating one or more CNC/conventional machines and use of various standard machine attachments for manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding aircraft parts and equipment on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection Applicants must meet the requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Job Qualification Handbook for Trades and Labor Occupations.

  • You will coordinate machine operations, meeting all staffing and scheduling need.
  • You will organize resource and materials to accomplish scheduled workload.
  • You will understand all rules and regulations and procedures to maintain safety requirement.
  • You will set up jobs on different types of equipment involving accurate alignment to maintain specified tolerance.
  • You will resolve problems concerning complex machining operations or procedures and to suggest more efficient or economic machining processes where necessary.
