Job Description

Summary

This job involves working as a machinist for the Navy, where you'll use machines to create, fix, and rebuild parts for aircraft using various metals and materials.

The Screen Out Element for this position is the ability to perform common tasks including: 1) Applying knowledge of all types of metals, metal alloys, and composite materials used in aircraft structures; 2) Performing machining processes/operations to include planning, laying out and setting-up of work; 3) Using various types of conventional and computer numerical control machine tools to perform machining operations; and 4) Interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings, directives, technical specifications and trade mathematics.

  • You will set up and perform machining operations on conventional and NC Machine Tools.
  • You will manufacture, repair, and rebuild parts and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals and metal alloys.
  • You will utilize precision measuring instruments to maintain dimensions and tolerances, fits and finishes in processing work.
  • You will set up CNC machines using proper tooling components, optical tool setter, gage blocks, micrometers, etc.
  • You will maintain accuracy in accordance with requirements of blueprints, drawings and sketches, work documents, aircraft technical documents, manuals, bulletins, and directives.
