This job involves operating machines to shape and assemble metal parts like castings and forgings for naval shipyard projects, using tools to ensure precise measurements and fits.

You will serve as a Machine Tool Operator in the Machine Shop Section (Code 1440.2), Production Division (Code 1440), Norfolk Naval Shipyard Detachment-Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (Code 1400) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
