The Traffic Engineering Division has an immediate opening for a dependable, energetic, hard-working, Longline Operator.

Candidates MUST be punctual, flexible, responsive to direction, have strong safety awareness and attention to detail.This position is a four (4) day work week, ten (10) hours per day.
Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday, depending on business needs. It requires working outdoors, in extreme heat conditions, working in live vehicular traffic scenarios.
Employees in this working title must pay close attention to detail for safety of crew and the motoring public as well as quality assurance of materials applied to the road surface.General DescriptionOperates and manages a pavement marking truck used in the installation of thermoplastic longlines in conformance with quantity and quality and safety standards and traffic engineering specifications.Works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires four (4) years of experience in the application of pavement markings or closely related experience.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required
A valid Florida Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License with airbrakes and the ability to obtain a Forklift operation certification within six (6) months of employment.
Preferences
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
Schedules pavement marking crew for daily work load; participates in the installation and maintenance of pavement markings; operates and manages pavement marking truck used in the installation of thermoplastic longlines in conformance with quantity and quality and safety standards and traffic engineering specifications; operates the reflectometer.
Provides training to subordinates on the safe operation of specialized equipment; obtains reports of and maintains records related to completed work, enters data into the computer system to produce accurate reports, and provides technical advice and assistance on difficult or unusual circumstances.
Performs daily vehicle and equipment maintenance checks; records and analyzes information on specialized vehicle checklist, including status of lubricants, cooling systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, temperature gauges, pressure gauges; continuously monitors equipment during operation; makes minor adjustments and reports all malfunctions to supervisor; assists supervisor in coordinating vehicle preventive maintenance schedules.
Acts as lead person responsible for crew and public safety, supervises the work of the longline team; verifies that quantity and quality standards are maintained.
Operates and performs basic maintenance and repairs on all paint stripers, kettles and other pavement marking equipment; performs sign and pavement markings final inspection; places order for pavement marking materials.
Performs related work as assigned.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, stretching, or lifting all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or exceptional skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands, or limbs in tasks involving very close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
