About the Position: Performs the full range of work in the installation, repair, maintenance and modification of a wide variety of commercial locking devices with various makes and models of locks found in doors, desks, safes, vaults, compartments, mobile equipment, and secured areas.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Locksmith without more than normal supervision.
I am able to perform common Locksmith tasks including: Identifying key blanks and determining by inspection which are blanks are interchangeable.
Troubleshooting locks and accomplishing minor fabrication of the parts when unable to obtain from other sources. Installing locks in doors.
I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.
(includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Trouble Shooting Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Work requires standing, walking, stooping, and bending.
Some lifting is required of objects normally not exceeding 50 pounds. Incumbent may assist in moving heavy cabinets and security containers.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed in well lighted, heated, and ventilated offices and shops.
Incumbent isexposed to dust, oil, grease, and dirt when cleaning and lubricating machines and frequently to thepossibility of minor cuts and bruises. Major Duties:
