Full Job Description
- Under general supervision, plans, coordinates and directs the actions of the security staff and oversees security, custody, and control of inmates in RHU max.
- Maintain security of all RHU max buildings and property.
- Maintain a logbook off all incidents occurring during shift.
- Supervise the use, accountability, and control of keys and other related security equipment.
- Preform security and post checks.
- Monitor the operation of the control room.
- Direct and supervise an inspection program to detect and correct deficiencies in security, safety, sanitation, and maintenance of RHU max.
- Instruct, train, assign, and monitor officers and other security staff under area of responsibility.
- Ensure medical referral is provided to all inmates when needed and to correctional employees under emergency conditions.
- Personally check all RHU max cells on a daily basis where inmates are confined and properly document.
- Ensure the RHU max maintains a high state of cleanliness and sanitation at all times.
- Be familiar with SCDC policy/procedures.
- This position is for Substantiated Security Risk (SSR) Unit.

A high school diploma and relevant experience. A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.SCDC Minimum Requirements:
- A high school diploma and three (3) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 1 year).
- Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
