This job is for a Licensed Practical Nurse at a West Virginia state nursing facility that cares for veterans, focusing on providing hands-on care to elderly residents with medical, physical, and mental health needs.
Nurses in this role give medications, support emotional well-being, track patient progress, and work closely with doctors and registered nurses to ensure safe and personalized care.
It's a great fit for compassionate, licensed LPNs who enjoy team-based work in a long-term care setting and are open to flexible schedules and ongoing training.
***This job opportunity is not in the classified service and is not covered by the WV Division of Personnel merit system.***
The LPN deals primarily with the treatment of residents who suffer from geriatric disorders, acute and chronic medical and mental health conditions.
LPNs are directed by Physicians and Registered Nurses. They are schooled in basic nursing care with further training in dealing with residents in varying levels of medical and physical conditions.
LPNs are nurses who are usually assigned specific nursing tasks and provide direct care to their residents, in particular dispensing resident’s medication, assisting with the social and emotional needs of residents and evaluating residents’ progress.
LPNs must collaborate with the registered nurses on duty in addition to other professional disciplines to determine and provide the best possible individualized care for their residents.
LPNs are responsible for assisting the RNs in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff through the use of monitoring systems and policies and procedures in place.
These positions are at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility. These positions require participation in continued nursing education. Alternate work schedules are typical.
