Requirements

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role with the Corrections’ Health Care Team by providing quality care to the offender population. On a daily basis you will apply clinical nursing skills, observe physical and emotional behaviors of inmates, and work alongside practitioners and RNs. You will also assist with initial screenings, medication administration, health care emergencies, and physical health assessments. This role requires strong attention to detail to document controlled substance and narcotic usage, as well as organizational skills to inventory supplies and equipment to ensure adequate stock in all treatment areas. In addition, you will maintain department compliance for inspections, attend in-service training, and may provide health related education to staff and offenders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40-hour work week.
• The Department of Corrections is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm
  • 2nd shift: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
  • 3rd shift: 10:00 pm to 6:30 am
• Work hours TO BE DETERMINED.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,558.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:

• This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  
  

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting.

At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
