What You Will Be Doing: Provide high quality care for up to ninety-one (91) assisted living home residents in a warm, supportive, and caring manner.

This position provides clinical and medication administration to residents and clinical support to the care teams.

Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes.

The Working Environment You Can Expect: This job is located at the Fairbanks Pioneer Home, an assisted living home at 2221 Eagan Ave, Fairbanks, Alaska. It is nestled in 16 beautiful acres of birch and spruce trees, convenient to the local senior center next door.

  1. This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, which is a 24-hour facility.
  2. This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish, and birds.
  3. Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis, criminal history and for COVID-19 as required by the facility.

Requirements

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

A diploma or certificate from an accredited school in practical nursing and eligibility for licensure as a practical nurse with the State of Alaska.


NURSE 1

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska.


NURSE 2

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;

AND EITHER

Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska;

OR

One year of entry level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples of this experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Nurse I, Corrections Nurse I, or Psychiatric Nurse I with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.


Substitution:

Combinations of prior training and experience as a Registered Nurse in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Psychiatric, Corrections, Public Health, Critical Care, Surgical) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.


SPECIAL NOTE:

Special Requirements: Physical strength to lift, assist and transfer patients.


Candidates not currently licensed by the State of Alaska, who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements for licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska and requisite qualifying experience, may apply for vacancies in this job class.

Applicants qualifying under this option may receive a conditional job offer; however, proof of licensure will be required

prior to final appointment and reporting for duty.


Positions require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment.

Qualifications

At time of interview applicant must provide:

  1. Two (2) professional references (including work/supervisor-related) and three (3) character references (personal) with current contact information.


If selected and prior to hire, applicant will be asked to:

  1. Submit to fingerprinting and criminal background check screening.
  2. Provide current evidence to be free from active pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) with test results dated within the last 12 months prior to start date.
  3. Provide a copy of current CPR and First Aid certificate(s), if available.
