Summary

This job is for a licensed practical nurse working evening and overnight shifts at a state hospital in Pennsylvania, where you'll provide hands-on care to patients in a hospital setting.

It's ideal for someone who enjoys direct patient interaction, can handle rotating schedules including weekends and holidays, and wants stable government employment with good benefits.

Key Requirements

  • Active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania
  • Obtain full LPN licensure within one year if holding a temporary practice permit

  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including nursing care on assigned shifts in multiple areas
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police, FBI) under Older Adult Protective Services Act
  • Successful completion of medical examination and drug screening
  • Full-time availability for 2nd (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM) or 3rd (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM) shifts, with rotating weekends, holidays, and possible overtime

The Nursing Department is looking for multiple individuals with a desire to facilitate the provision of optimal nursing care for the patients at Clarks Summit State Hospital.

Requirements

You will provide nursing care on an assigned shift, in multiple living areas, in accordance with the established standards of nursing practice, policies, and procedures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours:
    • 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM)
    • 3rd shift (11:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Rotating weekends, days off, and holiday schedule.
  • Work schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this posting.
  • Overtime and travel as needed.

  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $67,558.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Licensed Practice Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • If you are within 60 days of completing a licensed practical nursing program approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting.

    At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Licensed Practical Nurse license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
