This job is for a licensed physical therapist at Torrance State Hospital, where you'll help adults with mental and physical illnesses by assessing their mobility, creating treatment plans, and providing hands-on therapy to improve their daily functions and quality of life.

Key Requirements

  • Active license to practice physical therapy issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy
  • Ability to assess and treat functional mobility, ambulation, transfers, range of motion, pain, skin integrity, fall risk, balance, and wheelchair use
  • Skills in developing patient-centered treatment plans, including physical conditioning, gait training, therapeutic exercise, modalities, manual therapy, positioning, and bracing
  • Experience providing individual and group therapy, as well as educating patients and care providers
  • Full-time availability for 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with no telework option and potential overtime or travel
  • Pass a medical examination and submit satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police and FBI clearances) as required by the Older Adult Protective Services Act
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in an on-site hospital environment

Requirements

As a Licensed Physical Therapist, you will provide professional services for adults with mental and physical illnesses from all programs on our campus.

You will assess and treat residents, develop treatment plans, and set goals.

Your formal assessments will focus on functional mobility, ambulation, transfers, range of motion, pain, skin integrity, fall risk, balance, and wheelchair use.

You will also address physical conditioning, gait training, transfers on indoor and outdoor surfaces, therapeutic exercise, modalities, manual therapy, positioning, and bracing.

This role requires patient-centered treatment to develop an atmosphere of trust, hope, and dignity that is integrated with overall plans to address mental, physical health, and psychosocial needs.

In addition, you will provide both individual and group therapy, as well as educate patients and providers involved in resident care.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a license to practice physical therapy issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy.
