Job Description

Summary

This job involves performing hands-on electrical maintenance and repairs in a correctional facility, while also training and supervising prisoner workers to keep the facility running safely and securely.

The role requires working both indoors and outdoors in a high-security environment. It's a great fit for experienced electricians who are comfortable in secure settings and enjoy mentoring others.

Key Requirements

Full Job Description

Perform a full range of technical electrical work utilizing and training prisoner workers to maintain facility operations, safety and security. Employee works inside and outside the secure perimeter of a multi level correctional facility.

Experience

One year of electrical trade experience equivalent to an Electrician Licensed 9.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification.

All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.
