This job involves supporting daily operations at a Marine Corps library, such as checking books in and out, helping patrons find materials, handling payments for lost items, and tracking usage stats.
It also includes assisting with library events and providing friendly customer service to Marines and their families.

A minimum of one year of experience in responsible library support services or customer service. Ability to operate office equipment such as: computer, fax and copier.
This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Major Duties:
Incumbent assists in a variety of technical and specialized clerical tasks, to support library work such as, acquiring, processing, distributing and disposing of library materials.
Responsible for checking library materials in and out and verifies that customers are authorized to use the facility. Registers new customers and issues library cards.
Explains library rules, regulations, circulation procedures, and entitlements to library customers. Accepts payments for lost or damaged materials.
Takes requests for reserves and inter/intra library loans, and periodically checks to see that requests are filled. Keeps current record of overdue materials.
Accurately compiles and records statistics on library usage such as book circulation, attendance, computer searches, reference questions, etc.
Assists customers in locating and utilizing library resources. Assists with library events and programs. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy.
Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise.
Adheres to safety regulations and standards.
Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
