Job Description

Summary

This job is for a library technician at a military base library in Fort Rucker, Alabama, where you'll help patrons by checking out books, answering simple questions, organizing shelves, and handling basic library tasks like ordering materials and maintaining records.

  • Experience assisting with interlibrary loans, reserves, and basic cataloging
  • Proficiency in maintaining accountability records, performing shelf inventories, and simple maintenance on automated library systems

  • Provides technician support by performing a wide variety of services to the public
  • Registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes overdues and reserves. Assist with interlibrary loans and reserves.
  • Shelves library materials, prepares displays, programs activities, answers basic reference questions.
  • Assist customers in locating materials; and/or provides technical service support in a variety of functions: basic/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials.
  • Assist in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories. Perform simple maintenance on the library's automated systems.
