Job Description

Summary

This job involves coordinating with law enforcement to gather crime-related records and information to help determine if crime victims qualify for compensation benefits in Washington state.

You'll handle communications via phone, email, or fax, enter data into a system, and perform background checks on claims.

It's a good fit for someone with customer service experience who is organized, good at communicating, and interested in supporting victims while working in a flexible, mostly remote role.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience providing assistance to clients or customers on inquiries, complaints, or problems
  • One year of experience as a Customer Service Specialist 1 (or equivalent education/experience)

Job Highlights


Be a part of L&I’s Crime Victims Compensation team as our Customer Service Specialist 2. In this role, you’ll support L&I’s mission and make a difference by obtaining law enforcement records and information necessary to help claim managers determine eligibility for benefits.


Requirements

Some of what you’ll do:


  • Contact law enforcement personnel by email, fax or phone and ask for crime related documentation and information.
  • Explain and interpret agency-related laws, policies and procedures as necessary to law enforcement personnel and determine whether crime documentation and information received is sufficient for the claim manager.
  • Follow up with law enforcement personnel by email, phone or fax to ensure documentation and information will be timely received.
  • Key in pertinent crime and offender information from police reports and other documentation in Entellitrak.
  • Perform felony checks on new claims to determine if the claimant had any felonies and related financial legal obligations within the past five (5) years.
  • Provide coverage for Claim Initiators if needed.
  • Provide coverage for other Customer Service Specialists IIs (Law Enforcement Records Coordinator; Hotline Staff) if needed. Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • AND

  • Two years of experience providing assistance to clients/customers regarding inquiries, complaints or problems.
    OR

  • One year of experience as a Customer Service Specialist 1.
    OR

  • Equivalent education/experience.

AND

  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Desired:


  • One (1) year of experience using Entellitrak (ETK) to view, enter and update claim information specific to the Crime Victims Compensation Program.
  • One (1) year of experience working with computerized police records.

For this position, telework is permitted full time, except during training. Training is done in the office. The assigned duty station for this position is Tumwater, Washington.
