Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping coordinate communications and support for a senior advisor on laws related to financial sanctions and terrorism prevention within the U.S. Treasury Department.

Full Job Description

This position is located at Departmental Offices,Terrorism and Financial Intelligence - Office of Foreign Assets Control.

As a Legislative Affairs Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing support to OFAC's Senior Advisor for Legislative Affairs by coordinating communication efforts in pending or proposed legislation relating to OFAC programs and authorities.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Specialized experience for the GS-13 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience for this position includes the following: - Advising principals on sanctions legislation matters; AND - Leading preparation for and hosting briefing and meetings; AND - Coordinates with senior officials on legislation matters.

Specialized experience for the GS-11 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-09 level, or equivalent, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience for this position includes the following: - Advising on legislative matters; AND - Assisting in the logistical preparation for meetings between staff and responding to inquiries.

This may include duties such as preparing agendas and coordinating travel. OR EDUCATION: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: - Ph.D.

or equivalent doctoral degree in a field related to the position; OR - 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR - LL.M., if related to the position.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.

To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.

Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service.One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

To be found well-qualified at the GS-11, GS-12 and/or GS 13 grade levels, and in addition to meeting specialized experience, the applicant must have documented the following experience: - Having a solid and comprehensive understanding of the position.

Can perform the required tasks efficiently and is proficient in applying the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the job. Major Duties:

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13.

If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Coordinate legislative requests on pending or proposed legislation relating to OFAC programs or authorities, and coordinate with other U.S. Departments and Agencies.

Prepare, edit and review, in coordination with OFAC's Senior Advisor for Legislative Affairs, Congressional testimony, proposed legislation, briefing books, and related briefing papers for the Director and other senior Treasury officials.

Confer with and advise OFAC officials and officials of other Federal agencies in communications with Congressional leaders, Congressional Committees, and Members of Congress and their respective staffs, on broad matters of legislative interest.

Keep informed on particular legislation that affects OFAC's programs and authorities as well as Treasury's Office of Legislative Affairs on whether any Treasury Department officials have been invited to testify before Congressional committees.
