This is a non-merit position. Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird is seeking a Legal Secretary to support the Attorney General’s Office.
Core Essential Functions• Provide reception coverage, respond to questions, assist customers in a professional, timely, and courteous manner.
• Receive department visitors, including deliveries and process servers. Assist process servers with obtaining eligible signatures for legal service.
• Answer general questions and route calls on multiple phone lines in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
• Process incoming and outgoing mail, documents, faxes, and emails. Processing includes scanning, indexing, and uploading both paper and electronic mail.
• Log all lawsuits in spreadsheet, scan, email, and deliver to the proper authority.
• Data entry of accounts payable and receivable.
• Perform back-up responsibilities for all clerical staff or as assigned.

Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:
1) One year of full-time work experience in legal secretarial work.
2) Completion of an accredited certificate program for a legal secretary or related curriculum.
3) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as a Secretary/Receptionist
