Full Job Description
The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is looking for highly motivated individual to join our team as a Legal Administrative Professional I in
our Sentencing Unit.
The Sentencing Unit supports the full sentencing process by preparing accurate case materials, coordinating scheduling with the court, and ensuring all required documents and notifications are completed in a timely manner.
The team works closely with attorneys, court staff, and partner agencies to manage sentencing calendars, compile criminal history information, and complete post-sentencing tasks.
In addition to case coordination, the unit provides essential administrative support including front desk coverage, document processing, and database work, and plays an active role in advancing the office’s equity and inclusion efforts.

This position works a 40-hour work week schedule, normally Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is eligible for King County’s generous benefits package. Employees assigned to this position enjoy a hybrid work schedule that allows telecommuting, with a minimum of 2-days in office per week, subject to business needs and a telecommuting agreement. If a successful candidate is new to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, they will be required to work in office four days a week for the first six months of employment.Salary:
Range 38 - $29.25 (step one) - $37.08 (step ten) hourly*

* In addition to the benefits listed on the benefits tab, employees with less than 2 years of service will receive .25 per hour less than the hourly salary table due to a mandatory contribution toward the Teamsters Pension Trust that was voted by members of the collective bargaining agreement between our office and Teamsters Local No.
117. This contribution is made by the employee and after two years it is paid by the employer.
Requirements
- Responsible for coordination of all cases pending sentencing. Prepare and deliver sentencing packets to DPAs.
- Works with the Superior Court Sentencing Coordinator to schedule weekly sentencing calendars.
- Prepares the monthly Sentencing Assignment Calendar, ensuring accurate scheduling and distribution.
- Provides pre-sentence reports to Court and defense counsel.
- Oversees DNA collection procedures.
- Completes a post-sentencing checklist on Monday including providing notice of newly set review hearings, providing copies to Records and Department of Corrections.
- Provides regularly scheduled front desk coverage for receptionist breaks, lunch, and absences.
- Prepares J&S paperwork for Plea/Sentencings.
- Point person for the copiers in the mailroom, including repair requests.
- Resolving monthly PBK Lagging list.
- Generates WARIS sheets for defendants who fail to appear for scheduled sentencing hearings.
- Responsible for mailing out signed no-contact orders issued at sentencing.
- Actively participate in PAO equity work, attending equity trainings and discussions.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and general office principles and practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and verbal directions.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to complete a variety of tasks in an accurate manner with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail and to assume unscheduled and unexpected responsibilities.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, exercising initiative, and following through with work assignments.
- Customer service skills in person and via telephone (discretion, patience, etiquette, professionalism).
- Skill in using computers and the ability to become proficient in the use of database programs such as PbK (with training), Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro.
- Demonstrated predictable, reliable, and timely attendance.
- Ability to accept supervision and feedback.
- Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with management, co-workers, attorneys, law enforcement and the public.
- Active participation in PAO equity work, attending equity trainings and discussions, support for the PAO’s Race, Equity and Social Justice policy and principles, work with PAO colleagues and management to identify opportunities for improvement.
