Job Description

Summary

This temporary job involves teaching ice skating basics and advanced figure skating techniques to kids and adults in a parks and recreation setting.

You'll lead classes, help with events and camps, and ensure a safe environment on the ice.

It's ideal for experienced skaters who enjoy motivating people of all ages and can handle flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Key Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • US Figure Skating Pre-Gold or Gold Medalist in Skating Skills (Moves in the Field), Freestyle, Ice Dancing, or Pair Skating
  • Minimum 6 months experience as a Learn to Skate class helper
  • Familiarity with ISI Learn to Skate Curriculum
  • Knowledge of US Figure Skating programming
  • Ability to skate for long periods in cool temperatures and manage groups of various ages and skill levels

We want someone who enjoys working with children and adults. Be skilled in managing large group of skaters and can motivate and engage skaters of all ages and abilities.

You will be ice skating and wearing figure skates for long periods of time and must be able to work in cool temperatures. Also, work a varied schedule, including nights and weekends.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for teaching the fundamentals of ice skating and more advanced figure skating such as jumps, spins, skating skills, etc.
  • Assist with special events, competitions, and camps
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and family-friendly environment
  • Assist customers in the event of an injury
  • Perform other job functions as assigned

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older
  • High school graduate
  • Must be a US Figure Skating Pre-Gold or Gold Medalist in one of the following areas: Skating Skills (Moves in the Field), Freestyle, Ice Dancing, Pair Skating
  • Minimum of 6 months as a Learn To Skate class helper
