Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading the creation and improvement of training programs for safe lifting and handling equipment in a naval facility, including designing lessons, mentoring other trainers, and evaluating program effectiveness.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LEAD TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Lifting and Handling Department, Code 200, of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing and developing training plans and instructional materials, designing course content, and mentoring others in the practical application of lifting and handling trade theories practices, and technical requirements.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will prepare lesson plans and training materials based on course objectives.
  • You will develop, revise, and adapt existing courses and evaluate needs for new and groundbreaking training courses.
  • You will determine instructional methods and approaches and apply appropriate problem solving methods to enhance training curriculums.
  • You will represent training team in meetings with upper management and other TRF Bangor lifting and handling training stakeholders.
  • You will perform research and analysis on advances in technology, the subject matter, delivery methods and training aids, to recommend new courses or experiential learning activities.
  • You will develop and administer surveys or other data gathering tools to measure and assess effectiveness of training programs to facilitate coaching of other training instructors inside the Code.
  • You will provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures and assist the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • You will work as a team lead to coordinate team initiatives to build a cohesive team through mentoring and mediation at times when needed.
