Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Emergency Services, Fort Campbell, KY.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service which includes: (1) Authenticate identification through use of electronic Personnel Access Control Systems, ID cards/badges, biometric automated record and/or verbal questioning; (2) Lead subordinates guard training to apply procedures to secure facilities/property/personnel against unauthorized access and suspicious activities; (3) Participate in first responder emergency response to active shooter and emergency situations such as terrorist threats; and (4) Confiscate unauthorized or controlled items, and detain those suspected of criminal or other illegal activity until law enforcement officials arrive.

Major Duties:

  • Serve as a Shift Leader who is an assistant to the Guard Shift Supervisor.
  • Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and provides on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures.
  • Independently perform installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles utilizing standard operating procedures, written orders and regulatory requirement as a guide to access determination for a wide range of unique circumstances.
  • Operate and perform research queries on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) workstation terminal(s) in accordance with (IAW) federal and state laws.
  • Provide information/recommendations regarding scenario/operational effectiveness.
