About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Arts and Crafts Center.

This is a NAF (Non-Appropriated Fund) position assigned to the 31st Force Support Squadron at Aviano AB, Italy. Scheduled tour of duty will require evenings, weekends, and holiday work hours.

An applicant's eligibility will be determined based on eligibility claimed in the questionnaire and proof of eligibility MUST be provided with application by the closing date, 04/20/2026 The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is US Citizens or NATO country citizens with a valid US permanent resident card and Social Security Number.

In accordance with the Status of Forces agreement between Italy and the US, you must be at Aviano AB on orders and be a US citizen or citizen of a NATO country with a US permanent resident card.

Italian citizens may not apply for US NAF positions; however, may be eligible for local national positions on base. Must be able to provide documentation proving residence status overseas.

Legal US residents must possess a social security number and be citizens of a NATO country. The 31ST Force Support Squadron is not currently providing logistical support.

Applicants must provide proper documentation indicating they are already a supported member of Aviano AB.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Must have responsible experience in retail sales, merchandising, cash register operations and inventory controls.

Experience must demonstrate knowledge of proper cash handling procedures, the ability to resolve common arithmetic problems used when receiving payment from customers, and the ability to operate a cash register.

Must be able to read, speak, and write English. Must possess skill in dealing with the public. Major Duties:

Serves as Lead Sales Clerk, reporting directly to the activity Manager.

Assists activity manager as he/she directs, develops, and administers plans, programs, and procedures to ensure the higher standard of service.

Leads the work of three or more employees within the department while performing the daily operation of a department within the sales store to include maintaining the accountability for the activity change fund.

Gives guidance and instructions on specific task or daily functions of stocking, merchandise display and selling activities. Establishes work assignments to meet peak loads and emergencies.

Enforces operating procedures and established standards. Operates a cash register, records sales and gives change. Opens and closes registers according to established procedures.

Prepare cash drawers, verify and approve cashier's funds and balance sheet. Ensures cash, paperwork and cash collection funds are verified, accurate, and deposited.

Assists customers in making selections or recommends substitute merchandise.

Assists in merchandise selection and ordering process to include working with vendors, ordering and receiving merchandise, processing documents associated with ordering and receiving.

Prices merchandise according to pricing guidelines and monitors stock levels and maintains/conducts inventories. Performs other duties as assigned.
