Summary

This job involves leading a team to organize and run outdoor recreational activities like events, tournaments, and trips for military personnel and families at a U.S. Army base in Germany.

  • Ability to assist in planning facility objectives, instruct customers on equipment use, and set up recreational areas
  • Skills in planning, conducting, publicizing, and supporting special events and activities
  • Proficiency in issuing/receiving equipment, collecting fees, accounting for funds, and performing minor maintenance
  • Best qualified with at least one: active Rock Climbing certification (e.g., PCIA/AMGA), Wilderness First Aid/Responder certification, degree in Outdoor Recreation/Recreation Management/Parks and Recreation, record of leading groups of 10-49 on trips, or experience with Rectrac operating system

Full Job Description

This position is located at USAG Bavaria - MWR, Outdoor Recreation, Tower Barracks (Grafenwoehr), Germany. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

A qualified candidate must possess the following: Work experience or education directly related to the duties to be performed: - One (1) year work experience leading a staff of employees in support of outdoor recreational activities such as assisting with planning sponsored events, social activities, tournaments, and related functions.

OR - Successfully completion of a four (4)-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates will be considered best qualified if they possess at least ONE of the following Best Qualifying Criteria: - Have an active certification for Rock Climbing (e.g.

PCIA/AMGA/etc.) - Have an active Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification - Have a degree in Outdoor Recreation, Recreation Management, or Parks and Recreation - Have a record of leading groups (10 - 49 personnel) on trips and activities - Have experience with the Rectrac operating system Applicant meeting the Best Qualifying Criteria/Highly Preferred will be referred to the hiring manager.

  • As a Lead Recreation Assistant, works under the administrative and technical supervision of the Recreation Specialist (Program Manager). Serves as shift manager during absence of Recreation Specialist (Program Manager).
  • Tasks or projects are performed with a minimum of supervision, and incumbent independently performs regular and recurring work. Assigns work by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines and provides guidance to other staff.
  • Assist in the planning/establishing of objectives and goals for the facility. Instruct customers in the proper use of equipment and programs within area of responsibility. Sets up recreational areas for on-site events.
  • Helps plan, conduct, publicize, and arrange support for a variety of sponsored special events, social activities, tournaments and related functions.
  • Issues/receives recreational equipment to authorized users. Collects applicable fees for items issued, accounts for monies, safeguards funds and makes daily deposits. Cleans and performs minor maintenance on facility equipment.
